๐ฉ Job Interview – How Not To ๐ผ๐ซ
In 1996 I had an unforgettable interview experience with the rich owner of one company. As an MBA evening student, I walked into the office wearing casual attire – blue jeans, boots, and a bright sweater. Little did I know that my clothing didn’t match the company’s style. The faces around me in their grey suits showed that I did not belong in that place. ๐ฌ๐
To add to the chaos, the receptionist, a tall and thin girl with a skirt the size of my handkerchief, handed me an Americano in a big cup. In my nervousness, I accidentally spilled it all over myself, leaving me covered in coffee. Just moments before the meeting, the HR director approached, exclaiming, “The Owner himself will interview you!” But then quickly added, “No, you cannot attend the interview like that.” โ๐ณ
But I entered the room. With his piercing blue eyes behind his glasses, the owner was looking at my clothes. I could sense the question in his gaze, “Who the hell are you?” The HR director stood behind me, eager to escort me out. I paused and maintained eye contact. And then there was a silent connection between us. โก๐
After a few intense seconds, the owner broke the silence and said, “Sit.” I took a seat, and he glanced at my CV. I saw a smile on his face. “You are hired.” As the stories often go, there were no offers of becoming best friends. Instead, he looked at me and advised, “Don’t lose your spirit. You will need it.” ๐ค๐๐ฅ
